Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 11:30 AM-1:00 PM (leaving Western MA at 8:30 AM) BEARING WITNESS @ ICE IN BURLINGTON, MASS
(and see two action items at the end of this description)
A Western MA delegation plans to return to the Burlington ICE facility again on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, weather permitting. Register here if you plan on attending, regardless of whether you will be getting there on your own or using our carpool site. We want to stay in touch with you with essential updates! Plan of organization and action: · You are welcome to arrange your own transportation if you prefer. If you'd like to carpool with us, please use this user friendly sign up site. (Scroll down to the section in the sign up site to see more details showing you how to use the group carpool site and where to put/find the information about your ride.) NOTE - If you sign up and then need to cancel, it is the rider's personal responsibility to notify the driver. Also, please arrive for your carpool on time: drivers will leave for Burlington at the exact times indicated. If you want an assigned buddy for attending the rally, let us know. Or if you want to go with someone you know, sign up together for the same car. · NOTE - The parking situation is new. Mall authorities have said we are not allowed to park in their lots. Burlington organizers are working to change this or come up with alternatives. We will keep all Western MA registrants updated about the parking situation. Backup plan: drivers drop off passengers at the ICE building and then go to park in a lot at a nearby temple or church. (Details will come via email.) These locations are 1.5 - 2 miles away from the vigil site so we will arrange a Western MA shuttle to get drivers to the protest and back to the cars again. · Look for the WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS SIGN at the rally so we can gather and stand together. · All signs are to be only about immigration justice. · Non-perishable food is being collected, so bring items for local food shelters if you wish. Instructions for using the group carpool site to organize the Western MA delegation to Burlington for those who need it: We strongly suggest that drivers select and indicate the following pick up sites: For Amherst: Jewish Community of Amherst (JCA) For Northampton: Sheldon Field For Greenfield: Stop and Shop
Passengers, please sign up as soon as possible to be sure you have a ride.
The Western MA Delegation to ICE office in Burlington MA is organized by: · JAIJ (Jewish Activists for Immigration Justice of Western MA) and · WMILAN (Western MA Immigrant Legislative Advocacy Network)

Join the ACLU in calling on the Massachusetts House to stop the abuse of our personal information and pass the Massachusetts Consumer Data Privacy Act (H.4746). ICE is buying cellphone location data and surveillance technology allowing it to track protesters, immigrants, and Trump administration critics without warrants.
Today, there is no law protecting this extremely sensitive information from sale on the open market.
Unlike many of ICE's abuses, Massachusetts lawmakers can act to stop this practice in our state. Thankfully, lawmakers are already hard at work on digital privacy legislation that would do just that. But Big Tech is fiercely lobbying to weaken the bill.
We need your voice now. And please SHARE this with others, especially across the state, to reach as many members of the legislature as possible.

Support Minnesota and Anti-ICE Actions
|
URGENT: Tell your senators to BLOCK more funding for ICE and Border Patrol. After the killing of Alex Pretti by CBP agents, Chuck Schumer announced that "Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included." We must ensure that Democrats hold the line. Demand that your senators vote against legislation that gives ICE and CBP more money while doing precious little to rein in their brutality.

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) has proposed changes to their foster care policies, removing references to foster parents' obligation to affirm children's sexual and gender identities. These changes put incredible pressure on foster and adoption workers to notice, confront, and advocate for kids’ sexual orientations and gender identities. There is a public comment period open until February 6.
To submit public comment, email: Thomas.P.Weierman@mass.gov Sample message: I am writing as a concerned Massachusetts resident to oppose the proposed amendment to modify 110 CMR 7.104(1)(d) to strike the requirement that a foster/pre-adoptive parent or applicant affirm a child’s sexual orientation or gender identity. It is not enough to simply say support the child's identity and needs. Massachusetts children in foster care or pre-adoption who are gay or transgender are among the most vulnerable and, for their mental health and wellbeing, they need and deserve foster parents who explicitly support their sexual orientation and gender identity. Sincerely, Your Name Address/Town
