Standout against Anti-Abortion “Crisis Pregnancy Centers”

In these fraught times when women’s reproductive health in much of the country is subject to legislative fiat and women are criminalized for seeking standard reproductive healthcare, in Massachusetts our state legislature has been at the forefront in defending women’s healthcare and reproductive rights. 

Among the organizations opposing this effort in Massachusetts, are 30 or more “crisis pregnancy centers” which are often religiously affiliated and hide their true purpose in subverting women’s legal rights to birth control and abortion access. Additionally, they disseminate false information about the efficacy and risks of birth control and abortion. 

According to its website, the Clearway Clinic in Springfield, a crisis pregnancy center, offers “free and confidential pregnancy testing” and “pre-abortion counseling.” Although they claim they are a “ medical clinic” and picture various people posing in medical uniforms, they don’t list any of their “licensed medical experts” and reference one registered nurse as a care provider. Their  fraudulent “services” include “abortion pill reversal”(scientifically  impossible) and “post-abortion grief counseling”(a majority of women express relief after having an abortion).

On May 13, Springfield will host one of 12 demonstrations statewide to protest these fake clinics.  People will gather at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearway Clinic at 1258 E. Columbus Avenue, #102 to protest Clearway’s deception. I urge you to defend reproductive justice and join one of these standouts.
